Near the bottom of the south side of Blood Mountain, there's an old service station slash restaurant slash convenience store. "Turner's Corner Cafe" sits on the corner (duh), of U.S. Hwys. 129 and 19, a little north of Cleveland, Georgia.

Inside the building the eye is caught by the sun shining through a vintage stained glass sign over one of the doors.

Soon, one begins to get the feeling of being watched...casting a wary eye around, the dimmer recesses of the room reveal a wildcat slinking across a display of styrofoam coolers, while a beaver silently gnaws away in a corner.

But, most noticeable of all the taxidermed animals and fish in the corners, on the shelves and mounted on the walls, would have to be the black bear displayed beside the pot bellied stove. According to the information there, this is the record black bear in Georgia...note is made of the fact that the bear died by being struck by a pick-up truck, in 1992...but no mention is made of his weight.

The menu proclaims the house of operation to be Monday through Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and sometimes open for breakfast on Saturday morning. The specialty of the house is "Mountain Rainbow Trout" either broiled or fried.

Did I mention that Turner's Corner Cafe is for sale? The sign in the window quotes a price of $250,000.00. If you're interested, the telephone number is 706-865-6150. Tell 'em you saw it on "Bubba's Blairsville Pages".
